Kai is BAMI’s first artist. Known for his rich, full vocals with touches of Afro-pop and UK grime, Kai brings a versatile flow reminiscent of legends like Biggie, Nas, and Tupac. His lyrics are clean yet profound, capturing deep messages in every line.
Our Process
At BAMI, music production is an art rooted in classic hip hop techniques, expertly crafted by project founder Patrick Ngako. Every track begins with a foundation of traditional hip hop production methods like sampling, chopping, and turntablism, bringing authenticity to each beat. All sounds are created from scratch, either through synthesis or live music recordings, ensuring originality and depth in every piece.
Using only analogue equipment, Patrick composes and produces each instrumental without computers, capturing the raw, organic feel of hip hop’s golden era. The final sound is enriched through the iconic SSL channel strip, adding a layer of fatness and grit that gives BAMI’s music its signature edge.
Once the instrumentals are complete, Patrick writes and performs the lyrics, blending profound messages with a clean delivery. The transformative magic happens as his vocals are enhanced using AI, mimicking renowned techniques like Daft Punk’s Vocoder and T-Pain’s auto-tune. The AI enhancement elevates Patrick’s vocals, but the core musicianship remains essential, preserving the integrity of the performance.
Each vocal track emulates a unique character, similar to animated personas from Disney or manga like Bleach and Dragon Ball. These vocal transformations bring the lyrics to life, creating a dynamic and immersive experience for listeners.
